JACKSON

FALL FOR ME…

Those words coming from Lucas’s mouth as he stripped for me right there on the beach were like a slingshot to the heart. It didn’t help when he kicked his shorts off, leaving him in nothing but a pair of boxer briefs that clung to the thick bulge between his hard thighs. Every inch I could see now was nothing but tanned, hard lines of muscle, with tattoos covering his entire right shoulder, creeping across his chest and down his arm. My pulse jumped, and suddenly it was too hot to stay fully clothed.

Yeah, I didn’t need to fall for the guy again. Something told me I already had.

Lucas backed up another couple of steps, inching closer to the water. “You can’t say no. I won the friendly little wager from earlier, so I’m cashing in. You said anything goes. This is my anything.”

“You only won because the other team gave up.”

“Tough shit. A bet’s a bet.”

Cheater. I wasn’t ever one to back down from a bet, but losing my clothes after my confession earlier and diving into the ocean alone with Lucas? That was asking for trouble. But… Ah, fuck it. Maybe a little trouble was what I needed in my life.

I pulled my shirt over my head and tossed it on the sand before I could think better of it, just as Lucas’s feet hit the edge of the water. With his gaze roving over my naked torso, Lucas’s lips parted, and then a slow smile crept across his face.

Oh yeah. He likes this. Any doubt I had about whether Lucas’s attraction to me had diminished in the time we’d spend apart dissipated as he licked his lips, and then his eyes dropped to where my fingers rested on the button of my jeans, as if to urge me on. I complied by unbuttoning and slowly unzipping, drawing out the rest of Lucas’s patience.

“Get in the fucking water, Davenport,” he said, his voice hoarse, and I noticed the way he quickly backed up into the ocean to hide his growing arousal. And dammit, that didn’t do anything to help my own, and I had to reach down and adjust myself before I dared to kick off my pants.

Nerves hit me full force as Lucas watched me with hungry eyes on my way toward the water. Fuck, it wasn’t like I had anything to be embarrassed about. He already knew how I’d felt about him before, and if either of us had thought that was a fluke, our kiss—not to mention the blow job—last night would’ve put those doubts to rest.

Yeah, I was attracted to the guy. So much so I was willing to wade into the Atlantic Ocean toward a man who had the ability to change my life in ways I couldn’t think about right now, even if he only saw my being in town as a fun fling. So I wouldn’t think, not tonight. Because right now, no one else was around, not on the beach, not in the ocean, and sure as hell not in my head.
